Little OKA
Nurturing Hearts. Empowering Minds.
Welcome! Here at Little OKA, we believe in creating a space that feels like home - a place where children and families feel safe and nurtured. Inspired by the Native American word OKA (meaning house or shelter), we honor the values of care, connection, and harmony in everything we do.

Born in Brazil, I hold a deep respect and personal connection to the rich Indigenous cultures of both North and South America. This heritage, combined with a deep appreciation for the wisdom of Australian Aboriginal traditions, shapes the heart of our clinic. We honour the values of nature, healing, interconnectedness, and community - principles that guide our approach to supporting children and families.

Our clinic provides therapeutic services tailored to children with diverse needs, including neurodevelopmental and genetic conditions. Whether you are seeking guidance in behavior support, healing therapies, or simply a safe space for your child to grow and thrive, we are here to guide you.

We understand that the wellbeing of a child is deeply connected to the support and harmony within their family. By working collaboratively with parents, caregivers, and children, we create a circle of care that surrounds your child with the love, warmth, support, and understanding they need to flourish in life.

Connecting and Integrating Disabilities and Abilities

Our mission is to provide holistic support for children with developmental disabilities and abilities by using an approach that are focused on individualised services, recognising and nurturing each child's unique strengths and challenges.

By fostering an inclusive environment, we aim to enhance the abilities of every child, promoting their independence and self-confidence. We collaborate closely with families and other health professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive experience.
At Little OKA, we warmly welcome all children and families seeking support and therapeutic care. While our core services focus on children with genetic and neurodevelopmental conditions - such as Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy - we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for every child. There are no labels here, only support!
Autism
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), affects how people communicate and interact with others, as well as how they make sense of the world. Autism is a developmental condition that is typically life-long. People with autism experience difficulties with communication, social interaction and restricted/repetitive interests and behaviours. These are often accompanied by sensory issues, such an oversensitivity or undersensitivity to sounds, smells or touch. All of these difficulties may lead to behavioural challenges in some individuals.
The term “spectrum” is used to emphasise that autism presents differently in every single person.
People with autism have a wide range of challenges as well as abilities.
Down Syndrome
Down syndrome is a genetic condition that is associated with intellectual disability, a characteristic facial appearance, and weak muscle tone (hypotonia) in infancy.
All affected individuals experience cognitive delays, but the intellectual disability is usually mild to moderate.
Delayed development and behavioural problems are often reported in children with Down syndrome.
They can also present growth problems and their speech and language develop later and more slowly than in children without the condition.

** A small percentage of people with Down syndrome are also diagnosed with autism.
Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy (CP) refers to a group of neurological disorders that appear in infancy or early childhood and permanently affect body movement and muscle coordination.
CP is caused by damage to or abnormalities inside the developing brain that disrupt the brain's ability to control movement and maintain posture and balance.
The term cerebral refers to the brain; palsy refers to the loss or impairment of motor function. This is a permanent condition, however supportive treatments and different types of therapies can help many individuals improve their motor skills and ability to communicate with the world.
